The 3rd Congress of European Microbiologists was held in Gothenburg in June 2009. The Molecular methods for diagnosis of infective agents section was chaired by Prof. Jacques Schrenzel (GRBL).

The 26th International Congress of Chemotherapy (ICC09) took place in Toronto in June 2009. The following work was presented by Prof. Jacques Schrenzel (GRBL) "Exploring Glycopeptide-Resistance in Staphylococcus aureus: a Combined Proteomics and Transcriptomics Approach for the Identification of Resistance-Related Markers".

The 19th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) was held in Finland in May 2009. Prof. Jacques Schrenzel participated as Chairman and invited speaker.

The work "Rapid screening and typing of MRSA: impact and outcomes" was presented at the SGM meeting by Prof. Jacques Schrenzel.

Professor Jacques Schrenzel from GRBL attended the Federation of Infection Societies Conference that was held in Cardiff on December 2-4, 2008. He presented the work "Post-genomic analysis of MRSA: impact and applications in the clinical microbiology laboratory".

The 12th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS) took place in San Diego, USA, October 12-16, 2008. Maximilian Focke from IMTEK presented the work "Blow molding of polymer foils for rapid prototyping of microfluidic cartridges" Authors: M. Focke, B. Faltin, T. Hösel, C. Müller, J. Ducrée, R. Zengerle, and F. von Stetten.
